By the time he's finished warming up, it seems like his companion is beginning to follow along easily.
"Jogging your memory?"
Now, he begins to breathe, lifting his arms and then lowering them, focusing on the way his breath fills his lungs, on the way his qi flows through his body, centering himself in the moment.
"Yes. Muscle memory more than my recollection, but it's enough for now."
Macaque lifts and lowers his arms accordingly, though his breath is less deep than one might expect. His kind can breathe underwater, they don't need much air to function.
It's evident that Macaque focuses, though. Ancient as he is, he is extremely good at focusing. There would be an almost physical component to it if he were flirting, but that would be inappropriate right now, even for Macaque.
The body remembers long after the mind has forgotten, much of the time, and Macaque is certainly good at this. So in time, Dan Feng begins to move into move advances motions, closing his eyes and breathing slowly, each movement elegantly swaying into the next, his focus, too, quite good, calm, centered. Though his soul is ancient, his awareness as Dan Feng is only seven or so centuries old, but still, it has been more than enough time to teach him this skill.
Macaque opts to keep his eyes open, finding that watching Dan Feng is both helpful to his memory and a worthwhile endeavor on its own. Watching someone move when they understand and embrace the deep spirituality of it is undeniably fascinating.
His own movements are smooth and demonstrate how well he focuses despite his fuzzy memories. Macaque finds himself settling like the ocean in between churning waves, extremely glad for the chance to stretch these mental muscles.
They lapse into silence then, the scent of incense curling through the air, the sound of silk against silk all that breaks the silence as they move together. Dan Feng's body is long and willowy, moving with grace and great control as he goes through each motion meticulously; Macaque is right in his estimation that Dan Feng can appreciate the deep spirituality of the moment, of each movement, how it moves the energy around and within them.
And all the while he maintains his breathing, focusing on the avenues of his meridians, the flow of his qi, the careful, manicured silence around them, and each deliberate bare footstep. It is a beautiful feeling.
